Sharpie as Eyeliner?

I did this once on a road trip and it lasted for about 3 days. I used a fine point Sharpie and luckily I didn’t make any mistakes. Even Taylor Swift has tried this trick before!

It does make me want to research more into tattoo eyeliner though. I wear the same black liquid eyeliner in the exact same way almost every day. It’s too the point where I think I look weird about it.

Have any of you ever tried using a Sharpie as eyeliner, or have tattooed eyeliner? Share your thoughts!

I feel naked without my liquid eye liner but I could never tattoo my eyes. You never know how your face will age. Never hard of using a sharpie before. Is it safe?

I doubt it's safe! And you make a good point about not knowing how your face will age...

I have done the sharpie/liner thing and though about a tattoo liner too, but I went to my mom, who I remember had it done when I was like seven, she looked like someone had hit her, her eyelids were so swallowed and purple. Later on the ink on her skin kind of run to the sides and she had to do some corrections.

i actually asked my dermatologist about using sharpie as eyeliner, he said as long as you don't actually poke it in your eyeball, it doesn't do anymore damage than a normal liquid liner would. it does burn if you miss though! since then i use it on the regular, but only for outside lines. i fill in the inside with maybelline

Whoever your dermatologist is needs to be FIRED.
Sharpie is NEVER good for your eyes! Why would you risk the health of your two most sensitive organs when you can go and buy cheap eyeliner at the store? Permanent markers contain harsh chemicals that can poison your body.

Okey sharpie can have harsh chemicals of course duhhh
But eyeliners and mascaras also have them
and sharpie stays for a long time and its way easier to but on
no afense

Yeah, Sharpies have a lot of chemicals in them... but so does everything else.
As a [broke] college student [in the middle of nowhere], I'm not always able to get eyeliner when I run out. I use Sharpies (which are WAY easier for me to get my hands on, and last way longer) on the outside of my upper lid, and I haven't gone blind yet!
I do, of course, prefer to use real eyeliner, but Sharpies are a decent back-up. (plus, Sharpies come in all kinds of fun colors!)

any eyeliner becomes a mess on my eyes except liquid but that's so hard to work with cuz if it gets on your eyelashes.. yikes... thought I'd try sharpie and it's perfect... lasts all day... and I have such allergies that if I touch my eyes after using most store bought hand cream, my eyes tear up all day... so the sharpie isn't as harsh as hand cream to my eyes.

I've never used sharpie's on my eyes but I have used red ones on my lips and it stays on forever and doesn't smell or taste at all. I kept myself more aware of licking and biting my lips cuz even tho its non toxic I didn't want to ingest alot.
But I would put it on at 5am and cover it with gloss and wear it till 5pm when I got off work from the diner. It made my tips better and helped me feel cuter. I think it was a sharpie paint pen and not just a regular marker. Can't remember tho. It's been a while.

I've used only sharpies for years. Each time u apply it last 3 days and looks better than regular liner. I'll never go back to the makeup liner.

I think the appeal here isn't exactly the price of eyeliner vs. Sharpies. I think it is more that it doesn't smudge, migrate to make a second line on your upper lid, and it will stay on for long periods of time without touching up. I'm reading so many posts about price however, I looked into it for its convince factor. I was researching g how to do it, then researched if it was safe. I haven't tried it- however reading these posts I just noticed that so many, people are caught up with the price.
Also, with makeup, you get what you pay for. 99 cent eyeliners do not even line my eye. Even when I used the old trick of heating the pencil a bit with a lighter then applying.
All that said, for $1₩ at my local pharmacy-&an $8 rebatE from the package, I got physicians formula eyeliner kit that comes with a self sharipening pencil, eyeliner marker and kohl kajal. ANNND it came in a cute sparkly red case. I'm now addicted and keep it on hand, it doesn't smudge and even if I make the mistake of falling asleep with it on,it gives you this sexy slightly disheveled "lived in" look that I've actually gotten compliments and asked how I get my,liner to look like that when I was running late and didn't have time to fix it before leaving the house!
I don't know about how toxic it truly is, MAN different cultures/ethnic of women have used and sworn by this for years. However I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention that I think it's not so much a matter oF COST as CONVENIENCE. If it weren't so bad for me, I'd certainly use something that stays put and looks perfect for atleast 3 days!

I just used it for the first time today to cover up some spotty liquid. I might try it tomorrow. I have to say I loved it going on, although my eyes did tear up a bit from the marker fumes. I might try again. =)
